Mothers Day Flowers | 8 Ways To Keep Them Fresh
One of the most popular gifts that moms love on Mother's Day is a floral arrangement to brighten up their home, because they're touching, personal, and easy to customize with her favorite colors and design style. At Diana's Flowers, we customize arrangements by asking you your preferred color palette, house decor, or favorite flower(s), and if you're not sure, our trained designers will create something one-of-a-kind that will always be remembered. But how do you keep flowers lasting long after they arrive on mom's doorstep? Here are eight easy ways to care for flowers and maximize their life.
1. Bleach - Add a very small amount (1/4 of a teaspoon per quart) to your vase, which prevents mildew or bacteria from growing in the water.
2. Soda - Blend 1/4 of a can of soda to the water, the added sugar helps with longevity. A clear soda works well, especially when using a clear glass vase.
3. Vodka - A couple drops of vodka in the water will help keep bacteria away for longer lasting, healthier flowers.
4. Aspirin - Throw a crushed aspirin in the water to prevent bacterial growth and help maintain beautiful flowers.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar - Combine 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar with water, this will add some days to the life of your flowers.
6. Coins - Drop a clean penny into your vase to help prevent bacterial growth and help keep flowers fresh.
7. DIY Flower Food - Combine 3 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to increase the longevity of your flowers.
8. Hair Spray - Spray under leaves and petals from a foot away to give a healthy, glossy finish and preserve the look of the flowers.
